Carlos is a lighting professional with 13 years of experience working in various capacities in the industry. His most recent roles as National Sales Manager for successful Canadian lighting manufacturers have taken him on extensive travels throughout the US and Canada; providing him with first-hand experience in working with agencies while building a strong network of contacts. With strengths in relationship-based business-to-business sales and a passion for service and working with people; Carlos brings a wealth of knowledge to Symmetry’s fresh approach to the specification lighting market. Carlos holds a Bachelor of Commerce graduate from Royal Roads University, is an active IES member, and in 2012 he obtained his LC (Lighting Certified) designation by the NCQLP.
Tony has been passionately involved in the lighting industry over 17 years with experience in various roles. Tony has recently joined symmetry Lighting as a managing Principal. Tony’s career has included the role of VP of Sales and Marketing for his own successful lighting manufacturer for 10 years. His lighting career has allowed him to cultivate his skills in sales management, manufacturing, product development, product branding and strategic business development. Tony previously worked with the Acuity agent and covered all lighting market segments including commercial, residential, Industrial and municipal markets. Prior to lighting, Tony worked as a technical sales representative for Siemens in Distribution and Controls. Currently, Tony manages operations with Symmetry Lighting, while maintaining a keen focus in Architectural Lighting Design, Sustainability and Smart Building Automation. Tony is a Certified Electronic Technologist and has just recently obtained his LC. When not working, Tony enjoys his time with his lovely wife and young daughter. You may find him at the skating rink, the ski hill, dance studio or aquatic center. Some of his interests are quality wines, fine dining and travel. He is also an automotive enthusiast.
Parm Sheena has over 10 years of engineering and design experience in the lighting industry. He brings to Symmetry Lighting, a multi-discipline educational background that consists of both Architecture and Engineering. He is proficient in various applications of Computer Aided Design. Parm is able to combine all of these elements to overcome complex challenges and provide exceptional design solutions. He believes that the most successful projects begin with a careful study of the project dynamics and a thoughtful investigation of the client’s design objectives.
With over 35 years in the electrical, lighting and controls business, Peter has proven abilities in lighting applications for new and existing facilities of all types. His passions include effective energy utilization, commercial uses of LED, and achieving value for the client. Past positions include: Regional Sales Manager for major manufacturers, specification sales at lighting agencies, and as Lighting Manager for two major electrical distributors. Peter’s credentials include being Lighting Certified (LC), a Certified Energy Manager (CEM), a Level 1 Thermographer and a (commercial property) Real Property Administrator (RPA). He is delighted to be working with Symmetry Lighting with a full range of commercial lighting products to choose from for any new construction, retrofit or PowerSmart project. Peter has a large number of successful BC projects dating back to 2008 using specification grade LED.
Dal has been involved in design, construction, architecture, and lighting for over twenty years and 13 of those years have been in lighting. With such a diverse background he has a thorough understanding of the issues involved in seeing a project through from conceptual design to completion. We welcome him back to Vancouver following 5 years in San Francisco where he was involved in lighting specifications and energy auditing. To his credit he was involved in providing the lighting solution for the first zero net energy public building in Berkeley CA. He has been LEED certified for 10 years and is passionate about design. His desire to see projects completed on time and on budget drive him to find unique solutions to lighting dilemmas. When he’s not at work you’ll probably find him in the North Shore mountains on his mountain bike, skis, or hiking the trails.
Roxy graduated from Simon Fraser University with a Bachelor of Arts and went on to study Interior Design, excelling in both residential and commercial settings. She then moved into the property development field where she spent years assisting portfolio managers on large scale institutional and commercial projects. In addition, working holidays in Australia, Fiji and Africa have given her a depth of insight and empathy adding to her natural flair for working with people to achieve their goals.
Andy brings more than 30 years of experience in the electrical and lighting industries. After spending 15 years working with a major electrical distributor, Andy made the leap into lighting and has held various positions including Purchasing Manager, National Sales Manager, and eventually opened his own boutique agency in Ontario in 1999. Andy has worked as a specification agent both on Vancouver Island and now on the Lower Mainland after relocating to BC in 2004. When not working, Andy adores spending as much quality time with his beautiful family as he can, though occasionally he can be found frantically searching for his golf ball in the rough.
Giovanna joined Symmetry in the fall of 2012. She holds a bachelor degree in International Relations and has lived in different countries throughout Europe and North America in the last few years. Her global experience and friendly personality have allowed Giovanna to develop a great sense for working with people on a daily basis. Although a newbie to lighting, she is poised to learn and immerse herself in our industry. During her spare time, Giovanna enjoys dancing and spending time with friends.
Laura graduated from the University of British Columbia with a Bachelor of Science degree in 2008. While at UBC, she had several volunteer positions as a treasurer, and decided that accounting would be a great career! She is now working towards getting her Certified General Accountant (CGA) designation, and is in 4th year. Laura previously worked at a public practice accounting firm for 3.5 years, and gained valuable experience working with different types of companies. She is now excited to be a part of the Symmetry Lighting team!
